Winter Bird Count

  • Ruthven Park National Historic Site 243 Haldimand County Highway 54 Cayuga, ON, N0A 1E0 Canada (map)

Every year around the holiday season a citizen science event known as the Christmas Bird Count is held. This event takes place across North America and has expanded to be a more global initiative. The Christmas Bird Count and associated Christmas Bird Count for Kids is a citizen science event whereby local birdwatchers and nature groups go out and count the birds in their area. All of the results are documented; data is used when studying trends in birds and to develop a greater understanding of patterns as a whole. Join Ruthven Park this year in our Winter Bird Count and see how many birds we can count as a collective. Conduct your count anywhere and share your checklists with us. Wait as we compile all the results and then we will share the final map with you when it is finished! Happy birding!

Note: Please follow all the instructions on the checklist as certain information is required for data submission.
