Every year around the holiday season a citizen science event known as the Christmas Bird Count is held. This event takes place across North America and has expanded to be a more global initiative. The Christmas Bird Count and associated Christmas Bird Count for Kids is a citizen science event whereby local birdwatchers and nature groups go out and count the birds in their area. All of the results are documented; data is used when studying trends in birds and to develop a greater understanding of patterns as a whole. Join Ruthven Park this year in our Winter Bird Count and see how many birds we can count as a collective. Conduct your count anywhere and share your checklists with us.
